The Deloraine Big Band has been performing in the Meander Valley for over 40 years, including at the Tasmanian Craft Fair for most of that time.

We are an 18-piece Big Band, made up of 1 male and 3 female vocalists, saxophones, trumpets, clarinet, keyboard and rhythm section.

We play a wide range of music genres, ranging through rock, pop, funk, blues, jazz, ballads and soul music.

The Deloraine Big Band is conducted by Cameron Scott, who has been a part of the band since his childhood when the band was founded by his father, Gordon Scott, and Geoff Woods.

I’ve worked with Seals and Crofts, The Beach Boys, Gary Puckett, Maureen McGovern, Dennis Wilson and others in the US as well as with my own band King Harvest who had the hit with Dancing in the Moonlight in the 70s.

Since moving to Tasmania in 1988 I’ve worked with numerous rock, Jazz and cabaret bands and have taught guitar since 2000 in various schools around the north of the state. In 2005 I went to France to study with the master guitarist Pierre Bensusan. I recorded a CD of original songs last year “One on a Row” last year with Loz Maddy and am about to release another one “Tassie Two Step before Christmas.
