2016 Quilting Demonstrator

Deborah Louie teaches Domestic Machine quilting and applique internationally with Guild NSW accreditation in Special Techniques and has won many awards over the years for domestic machine quilting and machine applique.

She has been teaching since 2000, and enjoys it immensely, as well as writing a regular column for Quilters Companion magazine on advice for domestic machine quilting and filming many popular DVDs for the magazine.

Deborah has a holistic approach to her teaching and discusses in details the different types of threads, waddings and techniques available, which all are important and make a huge difference to the results achieved.

Her latest love is decorative stitch applique.

The 2016 TCF Textile Challenge featured fabric designed by Leesa Chandler. Leesa is an Australian textile designer, who in partnership with Robert Kaufman fabrics created a collection titled Dutch Cottage. Dutch Cottage featured prints inspired by Dutch porcelain, textiles and architecture.

Last year’s challenge pack included 60cm of the floral fabric in the photo plus 20cm each of two Robert Kaufman coordinate prints which work perfectly with Leesa’s fabric.
